Typical Activities Include:
- Supporting the design, development, and implementation of secure end-to-end mobility and communications infrastructure.
- Working with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and automation tools across internal and customer environments.
- Identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements to existing systems and services.
- Gaining exposure to all stages of the system lifecycle – from design and deployment to testing and commissioning.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and handover materials.
- Collaborating within Agile teams and participating in sprints to deliver value incrementally.
- Researching and evaluating new tools and technologies to enhance infrastructure and cyber capabilities.
- Engaging in STEM outreach initiatives and contributing to community events.
Skills & Experience
- A minimum 2:1 degree in Cyber Security or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with Linux OS (RHEL preferred) and hypervisors (e.g. VMware, Proxmox).
- Understanding of core networking concepts (IP, VLANs, common protocols).
- Awareness of containerisation tools (e.g. Docker, Podman) and scripting with Bash, Ansible, or Python.
- Familiarity with Cisco devices and infrastructure (routers, switches, Firepower).
- Understanding of operating system hardening, VPNs, and other secure configuration practices.
- Awareness of SIEM tools and IDS/IPS systems (e.g. Splunk, ELK, Suricata).
- Enthusiastic, methodical, and self-motivated with strong troubleshooting skills.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Be on track to graduate by Summer 2026 with a 2:1 or above in a relevant degree.
- Be a British citizen, and;
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) – SC clearance.
