About The Role

Arriva UK Bus is looking for a proactive and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Support Assistant at Wakefield Bus Station. If you enjoy helping people and providing excellent service, this role is perfect for you. As the first point of contact for customers, you'll ensure they have all the information they need to travel smoothly, whether it’s handling delays, disruptions, or offering journey planning assistance. You'll be part of the team delivering top-notch customer service and supporting travellers throughout their experience at the bus station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers, providing assistance, clear information, and travel updates on bus schedules, delays, and changes.
  • Disruption Management: Keep customers informed in real-time about service changes, delays, or cancellations.
  • Customer Information Desk: Offer advice, resolve customer inquiries, and handle complaints professionally.
  • Support for Additional Needs: Assist customers with disabilities or mobility challenges, ensuring they receive the help they need.
  • Tech-Savvy: Use tablets and digital tools to provide customers with accurate, up-to-date information on travel options.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • A passion for providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relay clear information during disruptions.
  • Friendly, approachable, and empathetic.
  • Ability to think quickly and solve problems.
  • Comfortable with technology and using devices to access travel data.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience (preferably in transport).
  • Familiarity with Wakefield and local travel routes.
  • Experience assisting customers with disabilities.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to train).

Additional Information

  • Ability to stand for long periods and walk around the station regularly.
  • Flexible availability for shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Professional appearance, as you’ll be a key representative of Arriva UK Bus.
