The Role

Join our dynamic Energy Division as a Contracts Manager, where you'll report directly to the Head of Contracts and play a pivotal role in conducting comprehensive contract reviews, leading negotiations, and overseeing close-out activities. You'll also have the exciting opportunity to support various contract-related matters for other companies within the James Fisher and Sons Group, making a significant impact across our organization.

In this key position, you will take the lead on reviewing, negotiating, managing, and coordinating all commercial and legal terms that the Energy Division enters into with its customers and subcontractors. Your work will be in strict compliance with the Group’s Contracting Principles and other commercial governance processes and procedures, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Role Accountabilities

  • Reviews, negotiates and manages all customer and other associated contracts for the Energy Division.
  • Takes part in training Division Sales / Tendering / Commercial teams, helping them develop their capabilities and contracts expertise.
  • Ensure compliance across the Division with all tender and contract management processes and, in doing so, seek feedback and make recommendation for continuous improvement.
  • Work with JF Group legal/insurance/tax teams to review and agree appropriate terms for contracts and other legal agreements as necessary to mitigate risk exposure and ensure compliance with Group policy, or otherwise obtain approval to deviate therefrom. Assist in placing any necessary contract insurances via JF Group insurance.
  • Work with Division Sales / Tendering / Commercial teams to identify commercial risks, and to ensure that appropriate caveats and contingencies are in place to protect the Group.
  • Negotiate appropriate back to back terms and/or FAs with sub-contractors.
  • Input to formal Contract Review and Project Kick-Off with the Operations Teams, at the point of handover from Tendering, to ensure understanding of the contract legal & commercial deliverables/risks in both the head contract and major subcontracts.
  • Provide the Division Sales / Tendering / Commercial teams and management with post-contract legal and commercial advice, including management of all contract variations and associated contractual paperwork.
  • Maintain a liability register of NDAs, bonds and guarantees and warranties.


Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in O&G services sector is essential.
  • Good knowledge and experience of industry standard conditions such as LOGIC, FIDIC, NEC etc is essential
  • Experience in review, negotiation of contractual terms and conditions essential.
  • Experience in renewables/offshore wind experience is desired
  • Ability to provide commercially focused and pragmatic advice.
  • You will be a robust decision maker with strong communication skills.
  • You will be able to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders, especially with regard to relaying complex contractual advice and ensuring compliance with mandatory requirements.
