You’ll be reporting directly to the Group Head of Compliance so a great opportunity to continue developing your career and breadth of compliance knowledge.


  • Provide support at an operational level in relation to compliance with the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) rules and guidance and data protection and financial crime prevention legislation.
  • Assist with delivering a risk-based monitoring programme to oversee the adequacy of controls to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Deputise for the Group Head of Compliance at meetings, projects or liaison with the Regulator.
  • Assist with reporting to the Executive and the Board on regulatory compliance matters and conduct risk.


This rewarding opportunity involves:


  • Supporting the Group Head of Compliance and other Senior Managers in creating a strong and positive compliance culture.
  • Ensure the completion of an annual robust, risk-based compliance monitoring programme supported by a comprehensive regulatory risk universe, which enables effective oversight.
  • Write clear and concise Compliance Monitoring Reports which identify the key issues and actions required.
  • Assist the Group Head of Compliance in the creation of effective and professional reports for the Executive and the Board.
  • Proactively identify and interpret new and emerging regulatory changes, with the aim of assessing the practical implications on the Distinct Cremations Group FCA authorised entities and communicate details to relevant stakeholders on a timely basis.
  • Provide practical support, guidance and advice to the business to help manage regulatory risks, for example in relation to, financial promotions, product development, product reviews, sales and distribution, training and competence and incentive schemes.
  • Assist with the development of training materials and tools to ensure Senior Managers are appropriately aware of, trained and understand their responsibilities, and all other applicable aspects of the SM&CR.
  • Work with colleagues in Information Security to ensure the safe retention and use of data.
  • Create and maintain up to date Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and oversee regulatory breaches to ensure that root cause is identified, preventative measures are implemented, and appropriate remedial work is undertaken.
  • Assist the Group Head of Compliance and Managing Director in the coordination of FCA regulatory submissions, information requests, visits and related requirements.
  • In the absence of the Group Head of Compliance serve as a point of contact and liaison for the Information Commissioner on all data protection related matters.
  • In the absence of the Group Head of Compliance serve as a point of contact for requests for member/customer data from law enforcement agencies and other third parties.
  • Ensure their own knowledge and competencies are continuously developed and maintained in line with Regulatory changes.


About you


  • Experience in both Compliance Monitoring and Compliance Advice & Policy.
  • Experience of Funeral Plans, Insurance plans / Financial Services / FCA regulated sector would be desirable.
  • Experience of financial promotions approval and product development requirements would be desirable.
  • Experience / understanding of FPCOB or ICOBS rules.
  • A strong understanding of corporate governance.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Deliver communications in a clear, compelling and concise manner.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence in their awareness of others, regard for others and relationship management.
  • You’ll need to pass a DBS (criminal record) check to be considered for this role.
