Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the nurse led integrated community respiratory team delivering care to the adult population of South East Essex.

The team have two sites, Rochford Hospital and Thundersley clinic and we are looking for associate practitioners to support in delivering respiratory care to patients in a clinic setting or their own home.

We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of specialist and respiratory nurses and physios, associate practitioners and admin support. As an integrated service the team provide assessment and review of patients with a confirmed respiratory diagnosis including COPD, ILD and bronchiectasis, diagnostic spirometry, oxygen as the local HOSAR and respiratory physiotherapy.

The successful applicant will ideally be a band 7 specialist nurse, achieving all elements of the person specification or a band 6 with respiratory interest willing to work towards set competencies to achieve the required band 7 level. In addition, community experience would be an advantage with a good understanding on long term conditions and multi morbidities. Excellent communication and listening skills is essential.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team and have an understanding of primary care, secondary care, MDT working and ICB’s.

Main duties of the job

To assist the team in the management and service delivery for local residents suffering from respiratory disease. This will require holistic assessment to meet health and social care needs and will include assisting with respiratory virtual ward, performing basic observations, venepuncture, capillary/arterial blood gases, diagnostic spirometry and would be a non medical prescriber with experience of managing junior members of staff. Teaching and education is also an important element of this position.
