Communications Specialist - Midlands and East
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

Join Guide Dogs as a Communications Specialist and help people with sight loss live the life they choose. In this dynamic role, you’ll lead the development and delivery of integrated communications across central, regional, and local platforms—bringing the Guide Dogs brand to life and driving national and regional awareness.
You’ll be at the heart of storytelling, media relations, and brand activation, engaging audiences from service users and volunteers to staff and supporters. You’ll shape how Guide Dogs is seen and heard across the Midlands and East.
This role also involves advising and training staff and volunteers, managing volunteer media champions, and ensuring all communications, online and offline, reflect the charity’s mission and regional context. You’ll be part of an out-of-hours duty rota, ready to respond in times of crisis and protect the organisation’s reputation.
If you’re passionate about impactful communication and want to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.
We value in-person collaboration with our teams and those we support, so the ability to travel to our sites is needed for this role. We support hybrid working arrangements, so you have flexibility to work in a way that’s best for you.
The nominated office for this role is our National Centre in Leamington Spa. The role requires a presence in the office at least two days per week, the remainder of your week can be spent working where best suits you. Regular travel will be required within this role across the Midlands and East region. You’ll be working 35 hours per week, worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
