About this opportunity
Gleeds is seeking a motivated Commercial Manager to join our expanding team supporting the delivery of nuclear new-build projects that will play a part in powering Britain's sustainable future. These landmark developments are central to the UK's energy independence, economic growth and transition towards a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
As a Commercial Manager, you will play a part in the delivery of site-enabling infrastructure works and managing the commercial aspects of complex packages of work across the life cycle of the project. You will also support the cost management, contract administration, change control and supporting procurement and commercial strategy development while ensuring value delivery across the projects.
Your day-to-day might involve:
- Management of contracts from inception to completion
- Operating with NEC form of contract such as Option A, B, C and E as well as bespoke form of contract
- Stakeholder engagement across a portfolio of projects
- Issuing/reviewing early warning notices
- Priced and assessed compensation events
- Monthly commercial reporting
- Management of contractor and subcontractor accounts
- Updating risk registers
- Reviewing programmes
- Issuing payment certs and valuation assessment of the works
- Ensuring work is done to specification and to cost
Who we're looking for
- Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management, experience in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering (Including Service Contracting) sectors is desired but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are ideal. Methodical way of thinking and approach to organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Excellent problem, negotiating, finance and numeracy skills are also beneficial.
- Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered.
- Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
