Commercial Analyst
Homes for Students
Are you a commercially minded analyst who loves turning data into strategy, and strategy into real results?
Homes for Students is looking for a Commercial Analyst to join our growing Finance team and help drive value across the business from optimising costs to unlocking new revenue opportunities.
Reporting to our Commercial Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping decisions that directly impact our five-year business plan and beyond. This is a hands-on role where analytical insight meets commercial creativity, perfect for someone who thrives on making numbers tell a story and influence outcomes.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting variations to client contracts, assessing the impact of pricing models and advising on optimal commercial plans.
- Conducting deep-dive analysis on spend to help operational teams understand variances and identify actionable solutions.
- Ensuring governance across fee frameworks, validating that charges are accurate, timely, and aligned with contracts and budgets.
- Reviewing spend requests and business cases to demonstrate return on investment and drive better financial decisions.
- Evaluating ad-hoc initiatives and projects that could deliver commercial benefit through insightful modelling and scenario analysis.
What we're looking for:
- A commercial thinker with the curiosity and creativity to spot opportunities that benefit the business.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into insight and action.
- A clear communicator who can explain financial concepts in a way that influences decisions and builds confidence.
- A relationship builder who enjoys collaborating across teams - from finance to operations to client partners.
You’ll likely have experience in commercial finance or business partnering, with a proven track record of adding value through cost efficiencies or revenue growth.
Advanced Excel skills are essential, along with experience in financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
You’ll be ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or part-qualified (or hold an equivalent qualification).
What's in it for you:
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata for part-time colleagues)
- Your birthday off, on us
- Access to exclusive retail discounts
- Cycle-to-work scheme to keep you active and eco-friendly
- Two charity days per year to give back to causes that matter
- Opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications
- A workplace that values inclusion, learning, and growth
At Homes for Students, we’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and a member of Inclusive Employers. We celebrate diversity, welcome individuality, and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may need to thrive.
If you’re ready to use your analytical skills to make a real commercial impact and help shape the future of a fast-growing business, we’d love to hear from you.
