Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm

Inch Cape is a 1080MW offshore wind farm situated 15km from the Angus coast in the North Sea. The power it generates will be transmitted 85 kilometres to a new substation at Cockenzie, in East Lothian from where it will enter the national transmission system. Inch Cape is a more than £3 billion infrastructure project that will make a significant contribution to the UK’s carbon emissions reduction targets. Once complete its 72 turbines will generate enough electricity to power almost half the homes in Scotland.

Summary of Assignment:

Reporting to the ICOL Fabrication Manager and ICOL Quality Manager, work with the Substation package supporting the inspection activities of the fabrication, loadout, and handover of the Offshore substation Topside and Jacket.

Based: Wallsend, UK

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Quality Culture through the project
  • Safe Working, at all times, compliance with HSE systems and participation with site safety monitoring and reporting of feedback
  • Coatings Inspection at main fabrication site, subcontractor sites and ad hoc inspection activities across the fabricators supply chain
  • The effective Coatings Inspection, Reporting, Coaching, Communicating, Collaborating and Challenging Fabricators Coatings teams to realise Consistency, Compliance and Conformity of the Offshore Substation and Jacket Scope
  • Coatings Inspection in accordance with criticality assessments, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Employer Requirements, Specifications, and AFC Design Drawings
  • Review of Fabricator data and documentation deliverables to ensure compliance with contract requirements and technical compliance to relevant codes and standards
  • Work closely with Quality Co Ordinator to produce reports on Non-conformances and other Quality related statistics

  • Review of Fabricator data and documentation deliverables to ensure compliance with contract requirements and technical compliance to relevant codes and standards
  • Work closely with Quality Co Ordinator to produce reports on Non-conformances and other Quality related statistics
  • Review of quality reporting – performance delivery, KPI’s, NCR, Improvement Plans, Audit etc
  • Provide specialist Coatings Inspection support, advice, and guidance on Quality issues to the ICOL Project site team ensuring the effective implementation of professional Quality tools, principles and objectives
  • Work with the Construction management and HSE teams to ensure sites involved in the supply of Substations are correctly managed and represented by ICOL
  • Work with Substation package team to prepare and agree the inspection and test plan with suppliers. Ensure the ITP is correctly followed
  • Share knowledge and experience within the Substation package to actively familiarise colleagues with ongoing activities and lessons learned
  • Ensure risks from own scope are captured and actively managed within the ICOL risk management process
  • Work within project processes and systems for document control, procurement, reporting etc
  • Support with Quality Audits at supplier’s premises and project
  • Attend Project meetings

Skills:

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Good communicator, including explaining complex concepts and communicating complex information simply in presentations and updates within the project team
  • Intermediate Microsoft office skills, document management systems
  • Ability to challenge and provide feedback in a constructive manner, and to receive feedback and challenges in a constructive and practical manner

Knowledge:

  • Developed working knowledge of QA/QC, Coatings Inspection, Weld & materials Inspection, NDT, Certification, Documentation and As-Built record compilation
  • 10 years+. Experience in Offshore EPCI activities preferably renewables
  • Advanced understanding of QA/QC techniques and Inspection Functions
  • Technical understanding of Employer, National and International codes and standards (NORSOK, DNVGL, EN, ISO, ASME, AWS, ANSI, etc)
  • Experience of working within multi-discipline teams
  • Ability to influence third parties through ownership, coaching, communication, collaboration, challenging and teamwork
  • Experience of managing a supplier to deliver the Substation scope of work
  • Detailed knowledge of fabrication, coatings, welding, NDT and Quality Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Certified as NACE level II or ICorr Level II
  • GWO or similar Working at Heights
