Job Advert – Clinical Teaching Fellow in Cancer Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time equivalent teaching post working within the Osborne building at Leicester Royal Infirmary. This post will be 100% clinical education supporting and delivering the undergraduate Cancer Care Block for Leicester Medical Students with a focus on Oncology and Haematology.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting and delivering various aspect of undergraduate education in the Cancer Care Block. There will be the opportunity to support students throughout the block with bedside teaching sessions, tutorials and simulation. There will be opportunities to attend meetings, shadow senior clinicians and attend question writing workshops to develop a greater understanding of curriculum development and delivery.

This role would suit anyone who may be interested in a career in medical education or a future career within Oncology or Haematology specialities. It is designed for trainees who have completed Foundation training or those wanting to explore career opportunities prior to applying for higher specialist training.

Key Roles And Opportunities In This Post Include

  • Facilitating bedside teaching
  • Delivering or co-delivering teaching for specific parts of the cancer care curriculum during clinical placements in UHL
  • Linking with block leads to map learning resources with curriculum and learning outcomes for cancer care
  • Supporting development of newer educational resources to strengthen the cancer care block offer
  • Developing Cancer Care teaching to improve students experience and knowledge of this clinical area
  • Involvement in assessment activities - helping to write questions and cases for summative undergraduate exams for which training will be provided.
  • Supporting Block Leads in the clinical supervision of medical students Facilitating and acting upon student feedback about clinical placements in cancer care
