We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with experience in all aspects of MSK hand management. You are forward thinking with the skills to combine highly-specialist clinical practice with innovation. You will be committed to following best practice and the promotion of high-quality physiotherapy services.
As a clinical leader you will have demonstrable leadership qualities and excellent communication and time management skills, with proven abilities to build networks across sites and disciplines. Through your knowledge of emerging clinical advances within the speciality you will be expected to advise and inform strategic planning and future service development.
Job Summary/Job Purpose
Working as an autonomous practitioner managing patients with highly specialised complex hand needs. Based in the Newport MSK Physiotherapy Specialist Hand Unit at Royal Gwent Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidate will be expected to provide hand training, education, supervision and appraisal for staff and students across all musculoskeletal service delivery areas and as part of the role. Contribute to the development of professional practice and the transformation and evaluation of service delivery and support research and innovation agenda.
In turn, you will be supported by our service Physiotherapy Clinical Lead physiotherapists, and consultant physiotherapist.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Significant post-graduate experience relevant to specialty
- Significant experience managing a complex caseload working within relevant specialty
- Experience in multi-agency team working within specialist area
- Evidence of supporting clinical governance requirements including codes of conduct
- Leadership of relevant networks/ practice groups
- Experience in audit and service evaluation
- Experience in research
- Experience in staff development including education
- Experience in supervision
- Experience in presenting to a range of audiences
- Experience in leading a team
- Experience of service planning and development across professional boundaries
- Experience of post graduate teaching
- Independent prescribing
- Injection therapy qualified
- Experience of requesting diagnostics
Essential criteria
- Diploma/ Degree in physiotherapy
- HCPC registration.
- Advanced accredited training at masters level or equivalent
- Accredited post graduate specialist courses/ training relevant to role
- MSc within relevant specialty
- Post-graduate qualification up to post grad diploma level in relevant area
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- IRMER Trained
- Injection therapy qualification
- Competency as non-medical referrer
- Qualified sonographer
- Relevant leadership courses/ qualifications
