The Role

Our Cell Culture Development (CCD) department is a dynamic and growing team of around 50–60 scientists, technologists, and subject matter experts who work together to deliver high-quality cell lines and upstream processes to support the production of therapeutic proteins.

The role of the CCD Scientist is a key member of the laboratory team who follows agreed experimental plans and timelines to deliver high-quality execution of experimental work, following all safety and quality procedures. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to the standard ways of working . They will work with more senior scientists to plan experimental work, identify issues and identify solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Input into the design of your projects.
  • Complete and deliver projects with a focus on safety, quality, and timeliness.
  • Advance technical issues promptly.
  • Analyse information critically and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Operate as part of a cross-functional project team.
  • Complete and peer-review laboratory documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports for internal and customer use.
  • Provide practical training to colleagues.
  • Actively participate in scientific discussions.
  • Develop an awareness of core project activities beyond your expertise.
  • Join the out-of-hours call rota to respond to alarms on cold storage units or cell culture systems.

Key requirements:

  • BSc or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific or technical subject area.
  • previous experience working in a regulated environment, preferably GMP.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting experiments and data.
  • Proficiency in data organisation and analysis.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of Design of Experiments (DOE).
