Duties And Responsibilities

We are seeking part-time professional proof-readers, ideally with University PhD background, who are available to work with academic document. Proof-readers are responsible for detecting and correcting errors in written documents, for example, university students’ essays and dissertations in all disciplines. In particular, the role involves making corrections on written text, improving quality of manuscripts.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Native English speaker;
• Correct spelling, typographical and grammatical errors (proofreading);
• Confirm style consistency according to a range of client style preferences; and
  
  

suggest changes for rewriting where necessary or requested;

• Good judgment and the ability to determine which changes are necessary;
• An ability to stay focused throughout an entire document, which may be technical and long;
• Must be computer literate. Must be able to mark-up changes using word documents;
• The proof-reader must be detail-oriented, flexible, able to manage changing priorities, and work independently.
  
  

Experience

• Proofreading experience (Preferred)
  
  

Education

• Master or PhD (Preferred) degree in any discipline
  
  

Work location:

• Fully remote
  
  

Work Hours

• The workflow is likely to be uneven, so hours may be irregular.
