Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Business Support Engineer – APC to join our existing Air Pollution Control team within our Power & Industrial (P&I) division based in Cramlington, Northumberland. The successful candidate will be responsible from the bidding phase to the technical phase within APC, in compliance with company policies, business objectives and industry regulations.

From receipt of the client’s initial enquiry the post holder will ensure the support output leads to the success of the APC business.

Scope for flexible working arrangements, including working from home on occasion, is offered subject to agreement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyse customer demand, work with the salesperson and the customer to finalize requirements and select/apply relevant systems and products to the customer application.
  • Select and apply AAF standard procedures to support sales and customer requirements.
  • Quantify the chosen solution using the various tools available (product configurator, prices, etc.) and, if necessary, by collecting data from external suppliers.
  • Manage the preparation of costing.
  • Represent AAF at customer meetings for the negotiation of technical and contractual content of proposals.
  • Provide contract technical specifications including comments, deviations and exceptions to customer documents.
  • Write the technical and commercial offer, in collaboration with the Technical Sales Department and the salesperson. Provide technical support to salespeople, especially during meetings with customers.
  • Provide commercial support to salespeople for manage Salesforce activity.
  • Maintain full awareness and knowledge of all AAF filter products and systems.
  • Represent AAF at exhibitions, trade shows and other related events.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications And Affiliations

Desirable

  • Technical or commercial education (engineering, business administration etc.) is valued, but candidates with proven experience in technical sales or customer service in industrial environments will be considered, even without formal academic qualifications.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Previous experience of a similar position in an industrial or manufacturing company.
  • Experience in attending and leading engineering meetings with clients.
  • Experience of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working on a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Computer literate and able to learn a wide range of software packages.

Desirable

  • Previous experience gained within the industry or similar industries.

Licenses or Certifications

Essential

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Full valid passport.
  • Full driving license.

  • IMechE status
