The COO (Business Operations) Summer Undergraduate Internship Programme:
Assessment Centre Date: Wednesday 4 March 2026
Our six-week paid internship is designed for students in their penultimate year of study, offering a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand experience within the Advice, Products and Operations area, in one of the UK’s largest wealth management organisations. The role will be part of the COO – Business Management team, supporting the Chief Operations Officer, but will provide support to other teams across the area, which may include:

You will be required to be in the office a minimum of three days a week during your Internship.
Please note that whilst we accept applications from international students for our internship opportunities, there are some UK Government restrictions on who we can sponsor and so it may be the case that we are unable to offer you a role on our Graduate programmes once you complete your studies.

Our six-week paid internship is designed for students in their penultimate year of study, offering a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand experience within the Advice, Products and Operations area, in one of the UK’s largest wealth management organisations. The role will be part of the COO – Business Management team, supporting the Chief Operations Officer, but will provide support to other teams across the area, which may include:
- Advice – who provide technical advice in relation to products, and financial planning, and ensure that suitable controls are in place to check the quality of Partner advice and documentation.
- Group Products – who oversee the development and maintenance of the Group’s range of products and associated third party services and provide the Group and Partners with technical support to promote the products and give advice and guidance to our clients.
- Operations – who ensure that the Group’s outsourced administrators deliver a level of service in line with the standards of the Group, and as well as overseeing our Customer Complaints functions, business continuity & operational resilience function, Investment Operations and Partner Remuneration operations.
Key responsibilities:
- During the 6-week internship you will gain a broad exposure to our COO operations, processes and policies by rotating between the key areas described above. Shadow members of the team to gain an understanding of our business and proactively support with core tasks which could include analysing data, drafting or reviewing reports, conducting research, updating systems and meeting with stakeholders across SJP.
- Data gathering, analysis and administration activities to support efficient workflow management across the function.
- You will gain an understanding of our obligations and responsibilities to our clients, regulators, shareholders, and other teams within SJP
- Work with teams on tasks in three core disciplines including Financial Advice, Products and Operations
- Support the delivery of key projects to enhance the service offering to our financial advisers (Partners) and clients.
- You must be in your penultimate year at university studying a degree in a Business or Management related subject
- Minimum Mathematics Grade 5 at GCSE (or equivalent) and study to Mathematics A level (or equivalent) is desirable
- Highly driven and motivated; proactively seeks work
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Competent and confident communicator at all levels of seniority both verbally and in writing and able to adjust style accordingly
- Competent at data analysis and data visualisation
- Experienced at using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI
- A curious mindset
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across multiple teams.
You will be required to be in the office a minimum of three days a week during your Internship.
