Farrow and Ball – BI Developer - Wimborne, Dorset - UK

We are currently looking for a skilled individual to join our IT team as a BI Developer. We are offering this position on a full-time basis, working hybrid between home and 2 days per week in our Head office in Wimborne, Dorset.

Farrow & Ball are a luxury British lifestyle brand that prides itself in creating richly pigmented paint and handcrafted wallpaper, using print methods dating back 300 years and the finest quality ingredients.

The unique Farrow & Ball look transforms modern and traditional homes, large and small, inside and out. Established in Dorset in 1946, we have grown over the last 75 years and now proudly have 60 showrooms worldwide with a global network of stockists.

The key to our success is the people behind the paint: from the team handcrafting each tin to showroom staff to support functions, our shared passion ensures customers have a positive, engaging experience at every stage of their journey with us.

As a Bi Developer, this role will be working cross functionally supporting the business with data analysis and detailed reporting. As a Bi Developer you will be part of a centralised IT team, with a core purpose to ensure that our reporting systems support the needs of Farrow & Ball, empowering the business to make data intelligent decisions.

The ideal candidates should have a strong data analysis background and experience using data analysis tools such as SQL and Power BI.

What we expect from you as a BI Developer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain small ETL packages (SSIS) under guidance; resolve straightforward load issues and escalate where needed.
  • Assist in maintaining the data warehouse (SQL Server): create basic tables, views, and stored procedures following standards.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI datasets (semantic models) and reports; follow naming, modelling, and DAX style guides.
  • Monitor daily/weekly refresh status for ETL, warehouse objects, and Power BI models; log issues and resolve simple failures.
  • Maintain clear documentation (data dictionaries, report runbooks, refresh notes, how-to guides).
  • Build and iterate on straightforward dashboards and paginated reports from signed-off requirements.
  • Present results clearly with consistent visuals, definitions, and refresh notes.
  • Service requests: Triage and deliver ad-hoc reporting requests via the ticketing system within agreed SLAs; escalate unclear or complex items.
  • Collaboration: Meet with departments (with support where required) to capture reporting needs and translate them into simple datasets, measures, and visuals

Key Attributes:

  • Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or demonstrable equivalent experience (e.g., internship, placement year, projects).
  • Experience in an IT service/ticketing environment advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, DAX/M, SQL Server, and/ or SSIS
  • Experience with IFS Cloud 23R1+ is a distinct advantage but not required.
  • Practical experience querying and manipulating data (e.g., basic SQL).
  • Experience building simple reports in Power BI or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality, with a structured approach to work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.

What you can expect from us

  • 25 days’ annual leave (increasing with length of service) plus bank holidays
  • Annual salary reviews, based on individual performance
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity pay
  • Generous staff discount on F&B products
  • Access to our retail discounts platform
  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 support

  • Group Pension Scheme, matched by F&B
  • Life Assurance
  • Refer a Friend scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Season Ticket Loans for travel
