Each year in the UK alone, 8 million soft toys end up in landfill (and growing!). Along with them, the stories and memories shared with them are thrown away and left to rot.

The difficult materials of these toys make them frankly impossible to recycle, and their composition means they take hundreds of years to break down and compose. Along with this, high carbon emissions come from the production of these toys which require immense fossil fuels, not to mention the carbon footprint of this high-demand global supply chain.

As a culture, and quite literally from the moment we are born, we begin to grow our own collection of toys, with most children acquiring far more than they could ever love or play with within the first few years of their life. Charity shops are ill-equipped and overwhelmed, toy brand trends are fuelling over-consumption and the industry is calling for change.

This is why, when I discovered what was going on, I created Loved Before. We are a soft toy adoption agency looking to challenge perceptions of second hand, rebuild the consumer model and change the industry forever. When people are ready to part with their toys, they send them into us (we receive quite literally hundreds every single day). The toys visit our spa for a thorough clean, refresh and repair and are then beautifully packaged along with their bio (often written by their previous owners) before finding their next adventures across the world.

Role (Volunteer): Brand & Storytelling Assistant (The Fluffy CEO's Storytelling Sidekick).

Role Description: At Loved Before, we’re on a mission to rehome preloved soft toys and change the future of the toy industry — one cuddle at a time. We're a fast-growing, heart-led social enterprise that believes every toy deserves a second story, not a landfill fate.

From humble beginnings (just a single teddy and a big idea), we’ve now built a loyal community of ~400K across platforms, had features in national press, and are redefining what circular business can look like in a joyful, emotionally engaging way.

This is a rare and seriously cool opportunity to become the creative right hand to our founder & CEO — aka The Fluffy CEO herself — and help shape the visual, strategic, and emotional storytelling behind a brand people genuinely love.

If you’re someone who’s excited by design, purpose, storytelling, and soft things with big missions, this one’s for you.

Working closely (and we mean closely!) with the founder, you'll support across a range of creative and strategic projects, including:

Small graphic design tasks (social posts, layouts, visual tweaks)

Packaging design + printed materials

Deck and presentation creation (brand kits, investor decks, etc.)

Visual merchandising or space design for pop-ups/events

Marketing material design (lookbooks, flyers, moodboards)

Helping bring The Fluffy CEO’s ideas to life with creative structure

You’ll work directly with the founder and have a real voice in the brand

Your work will be seen by a large, passionate audience — and make a difference.
