Main duties of the job
The Experience of Care team is looking for someone to undertake this brand-new role on a 12-month fixed-term contract or as a secondment. This job will have a clinical focus, providing insight to the morbidity and mortality data being collated across the trust whilst assessing the bereavement care service provision and learning from death at UHS. The role will be there to propose interventions for the improvement of these services, remaining responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating the delivery of high-quality bereavement care for patients/service users, families and carers.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Analyses trust mortality/SHMI data to produce a learning-from-death report on a quarterly basis.
- Generates the analytics and insight that help support the Head of Patient Experience and Associate Director of Patient Experience in providing oversight and reporting of the Trust’s key national and local mortality review commitments.
- Liaises with wards and clinicians to produce reports utilising data produced from Power BI and the Medical Examiners database.
- Audits and documents service delivery and utilisation, using effective feedback strategies which support development of the services appropriate to the finances and workforce available.
- Engages and motivates clinical and non-clinical staff in the delivery of streamlined bereavement care across UHS, providing assessment of existing services, building upon new and existing relationships and supporting Bereavement Care Specialists in the delivery of key workstreams.
- Supports the Bereavement Care Specialists in the day-to-day troubleshooting and navigation of service demands including service prioritisation.
- Works collaboratively with divisional, care group, and corporate teams to improve the understanding of Bereavement Care services and support as part of the wider Experience of Care Team.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in a numerate subject, or with appropriate relevant experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Education at a degree level in Bereavement Care or similar subject.

- Significant experience within an acute care setting
- Experience of using data and analytics for improvement
- Experience of presenting complex information to managers, clinicians, and other audiences
- Experience in applying external policies, legislation, or national standards across operational teams
- Broad awareness of Trust initiatives/pressures
- Project management experience
- Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience
- Business Improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, etc)
- Further evidence of speciality competence
- Previous Band 6 experience
