Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Poole

Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a Behaviour Support Worker to join schools in Poole, providing tailored support to students who face behavioural challenges.

About The Role

This Behaviour Support Worker role is vital in helping students engage positively with learning, develop self-regulation strategies, and build confidence in both academic and social settings. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour management plans, create a structured learning environment, and foster resilience among students.

Behaviour Support Worker Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and developing coping mechanisms.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create individual behaviour plans.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote positive social interactions and engagement with learning.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff and parents where necessary.

What We Need From a Behaviour Support Worker

  • Previous experience working with children with behavioural or emotional needs in an educational or care setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Health & Social care (preferred but not essential).
  • A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
