Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: Dorchester

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Start Date: November 2024 / January 2025

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Are you dedicated to supporting students with additional needs and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Dorchester, Bournemouth. This is a great opportunity to work closely with students, helping them overcome behavioural challenges and reach their full potential.

Part-time arrangements may also be considered for the right candidate.

As a Behaviour Support TA, you will assist in creating a positive and safe learning environment by supporting students who require additional assistance with managing their behaviour. You will play a crucial role in fostering student development and contributing to their academic success.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with students facing behavioural challenges, offering personalised support to meet their individual needs.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of specific behaviour plans designed to encourage positive behaviour and support student learning.
  • Partner with teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to ensure consistent, holistic support for students across all lessons and activities.
  • Actively encourage positive interactions and behaviours among students to foster an inclusive and cooperative classroom atmosphere.
  • Regularly assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and teaching staff to ensure ongoing development.
  • Assist students in building the emotional tools they need to cope with challenges, focusing on self-regulation and resilience.
  • Work to create and sustain a classroom environment where all students feel safe, respected, and supported in their learning journey.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting students with behavioural or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and manage challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
