We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic, forward thinking Theatre Nurse RN or Operating Department Practitioner ODP for an exciting opportunity as a Band 6 Specialist Educator for theatres based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Working under the management of the Senior Specialist Educator -- Team Manager, the post holder will work in collaboration with healthcare colleagues and educators to ensure that the specialist education and development needs of the Nursing and Operating Department Practitioner workforce are identified and addressed using approved, proven and credible methods. The post holder will be a visible role model, providing clinical support and practical guidance to clinical teams and departments across the Division. All references to clinical staff will include registered and unregistered Nursing roles, Operating Department Practitioner and Theatre Support Workers.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
The Specialist Educator will support nursing staff, department practitioners, new hires, poor performers, and theatre support personnel in development programs under the supervision of the Specialist Educator-Team Manager.
Collaborate with clinical team managers to ensure staff attendance at study days, training courses, mandatory training, academic modules, away days, and conferences.
Explore and develop alternative ways of training, education and development for example e-learning, written training packages, simulation, workbooks, visits, clinical rotations and self-directed study.
Support the appropriate placement of pre and post -registration healthcare students, ensuring that students are allocated a mentor/ supervisor and sign off mentor as required and that the mentor has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to support, guide, teach and assess the student.
Work with senior colleagues to plan, design and develop comprehensive local orientation/induction packs and induction programmes to meet the educational requirements of all newly appointed staff and students.
