Abbott
Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Witney
Contract type: Full time
Bring your passion, ideas and purpose to life in a company that can truly help you achieve your full potential.
World Leader in Blood Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings.
We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The Operations group is the largest team in the Witney facility, producing high volumes of test strips and biosensors each year to the stringent quality standards demanded by European and US authorities and our internal quality systems.
As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in our Witney Centre of Excellence, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Operations Engineering team.
The role of the Associate Engineer will focus around project engineering, whilst also providing support and assistance with varying engineering activities, including managing process equipment validations, collaborating with internal engineering functions and working closely with Operations and maintenance personnel ensuring equipment is optimised and suitable to produce medical devices. Continuous Improvement is an important part of our site’s culture and as such, you will be heavily involved in proposing and contributing to initiatives and projects that improve our operations. You will also be able to offer a flexible approach to work to provide assistance with the wider Engineering projects as and when required. At Abbott, you can shape your career whilst helping to shape the future of healthcare.
You will need to have completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or have a higher education qualification (such as a HNC, HND or degree) in a related subject. Some software experience (C# preferred for application development), CAD (machine design, assembly design, virtual engineering), and an interest in engineering data is preferred. You will be PC literate, and ideally offer experience of managing projects either through industry experience or academic studies.
As we operate in a highly-regulated industry, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow procedures and create accurate documents and records of your work.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become a valued member of a highly skilled Engineering team working with brand new state-of-the-art automation in a fast growing area of our business. Engineering skill is key to us, with members working in areas including projects, process, production, systems, software, R&D and machine vision. We also have our own fully equipped workshop.
As you’d expect from an innovative global health care company, we offer a competitive range of benefits including excellent salaries, a class-leading defined contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, subsidised canteen and a flexible benefits scheme. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more!
