Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare, helping people live their best lives through better health.

The Opportunity

As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business and a long-term commitment to high volume manufacturing in Witney, we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Engineer / Engineering Coordinator to join our Facilities Engineering team.

Responsible for managing the Maximo maintenance management system, you will work closely with the Facilities Project Engineers and wider Facilties teams in the timely and effective scheduling of maintenance activities and provision of general support activities.

Whether you are monitoring and reporting on equipment performance, coordinating Facilities Engineering activities, scheduling preventative maintenance timetables, or allocating resource to priority reactive tasks, you will engage and collaborate with the Facilities team to provide a seamless service to our wider business at Witney. You will look to improve the usage of Maximo across the scope of the system, thus supporting improvements in efficiency, consistency and accuracy across engineering operations. This role is the first point of contact for internal customers at Witney, and therefore a great opportunity to represent a function, and build wider business networks.

About You

To be successful, you will need to have completed a recognised Engineering apprenticeship or have a higher education qualification (such as a HNC, HND or degree) in a related subject. Previous experience in a manufacturing or facilities environment is preferred but not essential. Experience of a Maximo system (or similar) is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. You will however be confident at using the MS Office suite, with the ability to prepare reports and similar documentation.

Continuous Improvement is an important part of our site’s culture, so you will also have the opportunity to propose or contribute to initiatives and projects that improve our operations. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of accomplishing your objectives, working proactively, and managing your own time effectively. You will be organised by nature, and competent in planning work schedules to best meet varying business demands. You will be able to work independently whilst also adept at interacting or collaborating with various colleagues and contacts as required.

What We Offer

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a valued member our highly skilled Engineering team working at the forefront of bio wearable technology.

Abbott offers a benefits platform that provides security to you and your family. As you’d expect from an innovative global health care company, we offer a competitive range of benefits including excellent salaries, a class-leading defined contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, subsidized canteen and a flexible benefits scheme. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including local community STEM outreach, couch to 5k campaigns, yoga and more!

Your own right to work in the UK

We welcome applications from candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Abbott. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. W would like to make you aware that if you are made an offer of employment with Abbott you will need to remain on your current visa / permit. If for any reason your visa status changes, we will be unable to offer you sponsorship in the future. In addition, the Company would not fund any subsequent non sponsored visa applications - you will be solely responsible for paying and maintaining your own right to work in the UK. In some instances we may not be able to offer you a permanent contract.

Any employment offer made by Abbott is contingent upon you obtaining and maintaining the right to work and reside legally in the UK. You are required to notify us immediately if your immigration status changes after you have submitted your application.

Graduates

If you are on a Graduate visa, we cannot guarantee you sponsorship from within the UK upon its expiry. Abbott only has a set number of Certificate of Sponsorship applications that can be made each year, which are utilised for highly skilled workers transferring internally. If this limit is reached and other Home Office requirements cannot be met, it will prevent us from being able to sponsor and therefore employ you, unless you are able to secure your own right to work in the UK following the expiry of a Graduate visa.
