An exciting opportunity has arisen at Alder Hey, we are looking to recruit an Associate Director of IPC and welcome applications from interested candidates.

You will be an innovative and enthusiastic individual who will be integral in delivering our strategic vision for IPC. The IPC programme will be built on a foundation of data integrity and evidence-based practices to impact and reshape the way that health care is delivered to prevent patient harm and create a safer environment for patients and staff. This corporate role presents a great opportunity for a senior health care leader to have real impact in encouraging positive system and behaviour change to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people (CYP).

We are seeking an ambitious, creative and forward-thinking professional, keen to build on our vision to achieve healthcare without avoidable infections. Positioned within a supportive and multi professional integrated team you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and change management skills and work with partners at a senior level.

Striving to improve the health of CYP, you will be skilled, resilient and creative in your approach to problem solving. It is essential you are a team player, have excellent people and leadership skills and the ability to work with colleagues across the breadth and depth the organisation. Applicants must have outstanding analytical and communication skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.

The Associate Director of Infection Prevention Control (ADIPC) has strategic leadership and management responsibility for the ongoing development and sustainability of a high quality and innovative infection prevention and control service for the Trust.

The Post Holder Will Have Significant Trust Wide Responsibility With Respect To Developing, Leading And Directing The Trust’s Programme To Reduce Healthcare-associated Infections As Established In National And Local Trajectories. This Includes Leadership And Strategic Direction To The Following Areas

  • Development and delivery of strategy and improvement programmes to achieve national infection reduction targets.
  • Achieving excellent clinical infection prevention practices by all staff groups.
  • Improving environmental cleanliness, to meet and exceed minimum national standards.
  • Antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Emergency planning in relation to infectious agents.
  • Infection outbreak and incident management.
  • Environmental aspects of IPC such as water and ventilation safety.
  • IPC leadership.

The post holder will work in complex partnerships with sites and areas across and outside the Trust to develop a strategic approach for the provision of services with infection prevention embedded at their core.
