A fantastic career development opportunity has arisen for someone interested in taking on an important corporate role overseeing Nursing and AHP Education and workforce and the quality programme across the Trust.

The position is a 12-month secondment to become the Associate Director of Education, Workforce and Quality at Alder Hey. You will report directly to the Chief Nursing, AHP and Experience Officer. With professional accountability to the Directors of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).

We are seeking to appoint someone who is eager to advance their career and welcomes the opportunity to take on broader responsibilities. We are looking for applicants who are calm under pressure, engaging, analytical and able to be creative in their approach to problem solving.

The Associate Director of Workforce, Education and Quality has strategic and management responsibility for the ongoing development and sustainability of the Trust’s quality programme and the workforce and education strategy for Nursing and AHPs.

This role presents a great opportunity for a senior healthcare leader to have real positive impact in developing the workforce and assuring the quality of services we provide to children and young people.

As this is an initial 12 month secondment applicants must have the support of their manager to apply.

The post holder working with the Chief Nurse and Directors of Nursing and AHPs will have significant Trust wide responsibility and will be accountable for the strategic, operational and budgetary management of the quality programme and education and workforce agendas

The post holder will undertake a full portfolio of responsibilities as agreed and delegated by the Chief Nursing officer and will be responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive and strong professional leadership, guidance advice, support and direction in relation to Trust wide quality to all health care professionals and workforce and Education across nursing and AHP professions

The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing Quality Improvement Strategies across the organisation, promoting a culture of compassionate health care.

Develop and implement an outcome-focused strategic annual quality assurance, workforce and education strategy across the Trust with high visibility at Executive level to ensure improvement is achieved in line with the strategic objectives

Provide direct management and professional accountability for nursing and AHP workforce and education leads , workforce redesign, recruitment, training and development, performance, grievance and discipline. Directing and leading their work to provide quality monitoring and quality outcomes, working closely with Divisional Medical, Nursing and AHP leads to ensure high quality care across the Trust.

As one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions. In addition to our main hospital site, we offer paediatric services at a number of community sites and hold local clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man. We also provide specialist inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs in our recently relocated and newly opened state of the art facility.
