The purpose
As highly experienced professionals, Associate Directors (ADs) will act as practice representatives and play a role in promoting and implementing practice objectives both within and beyond the organisation. Associate Directors in landscape will have dual specialisms in landscape design and landscape planning and will lead the management of their smaller to medium sized projects. They will be expected to have a role in aiming to win new work and to contribute to the strategic aims of tor&co. They will be expected to oversee the work of junior members and give guidance to junior members. They will be a member of the Landscape Institute.

The purpose

They will be expected to have a role in aiming to win new work and to contribute to the strategic aims of tor&co. They will be expected to oversee the work of junior members and give guidance to junior members. They will be a member of the Landscape Institute.
External Activities
- Maintain good client relations through significant client liaison, have a good understanding of client aspirations and be able to deliver these in a timely fashion
- Be the main or secondary client contact depending upon the size and complexity of the project, and develop these relationships
- Represent the practice in a professional manner, ensuring the high reputation of the company is maintained
- Possess the ability to lead meetings and effectively gain results from such discussions
- Be prepared to contribute to writing evidence for public inquiries
- Undertake limited public speaking activities where appropriate to promote the practice and disseminate good professional working practices and knowledge
- Bring to the attention of the Technical Directors and Directors cross discipline opportunities and new work leads.
- 5+ years industry experience post CMLI qualification
- Strong conceptual and analytical design skills
- Excellent design flair and creative approach to Landscape Architecture
- Extensive experience of and working within the English Planning System
- Experience on various scale projects with large scale project experience desirable
- Proficient in VectorWorks/ CAD, Microsoft Office and National Building Specification with the ability to competently use (be familiar with) some or all of the following Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign and Illustrator) and Resoft WindFarm, QGIS or at least the willingness and ability to learn
- Excellent presentation of work and communication skills
- Strong understanding of project expenditure and fee monitoring
- Business development experience desirable
