Job Purpose
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of residential construction projects. This role is crucial to ensuring that homes are built safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality, all while maintaining compliance with building regulations and quality standards. You will play a hands-on role in coordinating contractors, managing resources, and ensuring that construction activities meet deadlines and budget requirements.

Job Purpose
As an Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of residential construction projects. This role is crucial to ensuring that homes are built safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality, all while maintaining compliance with building regulations and quality standards. You will play a hands-on role in coordinating contractors, managing resources, and ensuring that construction activities meet deadlines and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination: Assist the Site Manager in planning and coordinating all on-site activities to ensure smooth and efficient progress on projects.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Support the enforcement of health and safety regulations and safety standards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Quality Control: Monitor construction quality, inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and addressing any issues that arise.
- Subcontractor Management: Liaise with subcontractors to communicate project requirements, oversee their work, and ensure it aligns with project specifications and schedules.
- Resource Management: Manage site resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, to optimize usage and reduce waste.
- Customer Satisfaction: Assist with customer handovers and aftercare processes, ensuring the highest level of satisfaction with completed homes.
- Progress Reporting: Maintain accurate records of site activities, preparing and submitting regular progress reports to the Site Manager and project team.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address potential issues on-site to minimize delays and prevent problems from impacting the project timeline or budget.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction site management, ideally within residential housing or a similar field.
- Education: Relevant qualifications in construction management or a related discipline (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or degree).
- Health & Safety: Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid).
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous with a focus on quality and accuracy, ensuring high standards in construction output.
- Problem Solving: Capable of identifying and resolving issues effectively to keep the project on track.
