Group Finance Support is a vital function within the wider Finance community at LBG. Our team of around 300 colleagues is responsible for financial reporting and control, driving people and culture initiatives, and supporting the implementation of strategic priorities.

As an Assistant Finance Manager, you'll work closely with Retail Finance to strengthen our control environment and ensure confidence in the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering the monthly Effective Interest Rate (EIR) outputs for Credit Cards, Homes and Loans models, whilst ensuring a robust control environment.

Day to day you'll be:

  • Delivering the monthly EIR automated solutions for Consumer Lending, focusing predominantly on Cards and Homes models [effectively spreading the costs/income of certain products over the determined life of that product].
  • Delivering prescribed monthly management accounts and conducts trend analysis on actuals to provide assurance for Retail Finance products.
  • Conducting research into actuals using a wide variety of existing processes and procedures to interpret data and identify possible trends.
  • Ensure robust risk management processes are embedded in supporting files to provide a 'no-surprises', high quality Financial Control environment
  • Building a wide network of contacts across Finance to better understand the customer transaction journey through to ledger to enable swift resolution to ledger investigations and aid collaboration.
  • Proactively identifying improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, including participating in debrief meetings and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating closely with a large number of internal teams including stakeholders in Retail Finance, other GFS teams, external auditors and other third parties; and
  • Proactively drive forwards an environment of continuous improvement, in particular through data improvement and the use of automation and AI tools

About us

We're on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we're shaping finance for good. We're focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone. Including you.

What you'll need:

  • Qualified/part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Strong excel skills with experience of financial systems and a curious mindset that will drive process improvements
  • Strong analytical skills and a good attention to detail.
  • EIR is an important process within the team and requires Governance controls, SOX testing and is looked at in detail by the auditors. As such, candidates must be confident in communicating their understanding and the controls in place to key stakeholders.
  • Risk and control understanding, including LBG RSCA.
  • Desire to consistently improve the control environment through use of automation and AI tools

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Experience in EIR
  • SOX framework knowledge
