Buro Happold is recruiting an Assistant Finance Business Partner on a 12 month fixed term contract to provide a blend of both statutory and management accounting skillsets responsibilities.

Based out of one our UK offices in Bath, London, Leeds or Edinburgh, this role will be responsible for supporting the production of end-to-end management accounts, assisting with the accurate reporting of revenue and costs on projects, as well as supporting junior members of the team with other month end BAU and ad-hoc tasks.

Key Duties:

  • Preparation of monthly project accounts
  • Assisting business partners with annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Provide support for project approval and closure process
  • Working collaboratively with the Project Operations Team
  • Assist with project surgeries and Project Director reviews
  • Help with the presentation of financial analysis and monthly financial commentary to project Leadership teams on a monthly basis
  • Overview and monitoring of provisions
  • Ad hoc and regular journal posting
  • Liaison with other Group and Regional finance teams
  • Support with invoicing and other housekeeping tasks
  • Support with monthly management accounts
  • Compilation of any ad hoc reports, presentations and information requests
  • Help ensure adherence of local finance systems and processes.


Required Skills

  • Management accounts experience and understanding of month end processes
  • Experience of having operated in a similar capacity in the past, whilst demonstrating independent working and initiative and ability to adapt to challenging situations and suggest possible solutions to problems or blockers that may arise
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills; the ability to set up and maintain supporting financial systems.
  • Demonstrable organisational skills with the proven ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with key non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience of professional services or engineering/construction industry would be an advantage, as would be experience of Agresso accounting system and Deltek Vantagepoint
  • AAT qualified or beyond, or similar accreditations, would be useful although qualified by experience is also acceptable.

  • Early leaving at the end of the month - Buro Happold actively encourages its employees to finish at 3pm on the last Friday of each month (depending on business demands). These hours can equate to an additional 4 days leave per annum.
