The Role
As a Assistant Cook, you’ll ensure prompt and efficient preparation and service of meals for the School, reporting directly to the Chef . Your role includes preparing, cooking, and serving food to high standards, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with hygiene procedures . Acting as an Allergen Champion, you will follow Sodexo and school policies to prepare special diet meals with care, label them accurately, and cross-reference with allergy registers for safe service.

Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to legal and company standards in catering.
- Prepare and present food as directed, ensuring high quality and timely service.
- Store goods properly, following rotation and delivery checks.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, particularly at day’s end.
- To ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regards to special dietary requirements, allergens and shelf life.
- Serve customers efficiently with good service, replenishing food/equipment as needed.
- To raise any issues to the Chef Manager or Supervisor in a timely manner
- Clean areas after service and complete required admin tasks (e.g., food temperatures, stock, allergens).
- Follow food safety, health, and cleaning protocols; report any incidents or irregularities.
- Foster good team relations, undertake training, and support school events or functions as required.
- Assist in other local units during emergencies or as needed by management.
- Experience working in a professional kitchen, with a proven track record as a Cook or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Experience in preparing diverse cuisines is a plus.
