We have an exciting opportunity within our Catering Department who are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Chef.

About the role:

Our kitchen is the heart of our setting - producing warming breakfasts, nutritious hot lunches, and wholesome teas using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our busy team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a genuine enthusiasm for good, whole foods and sustainable living. As an Assistant Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety standards and ensuring a well-organised kitchen environment

Key responsibilities include (Please see job description for full details):

  • Food Preparation & Service including
    • Prepare, cook, and present meals and buffets to a high standard for pupils, staff, and special events.
    • Take ownership of food production for each service, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene
    • Maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene, and safety in accordance with school and statutory regulations.
  • Kitchen Operations
    • Support with stock control, ordering, and receiving goods in line with compliance procedures
  • Compliance & Training
    • Ensure all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service, and storage, are completed accurately.
Person Specification, you must have:

  • Confident and competent cook with experience preparing meals for groups.
  • Passion for healthy eating, whole foods, and child nutrition
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory food hygiene and allergy training (if not already held
