Location: Aberdeen, UK - Hybrid 2+ days in the office

Reporting to the COO, The Asset Director (AD) will lead and manage the company’s asset function to ensure that all operational assets (including offshore support vessels, ROVs, AUV/ASVs & hydrographic survey equipment) are procured, deployed and maintained to optimise their operational effectiveness. The AD will have a team of specialists from across business verticals who will interface closely with project teams to ensure both optimised scheduling & deployment of the requisite assets to meet project. The AD will hold ultimate accountability for the setting & monitoring of asset and budgets and will act as a key input to the creation & execution of an aligned asset strategy that meets the needs of the business both now and in the future.
The AD will demonstrate their impact in the role by demonstrating improvements in the way assets are registered internally, scheduled, deployed and maintained with a view to optimising these processes to improve project margins and reduce cost of poor quality & asset downtime. Leveraging from strong collaborative relationships across the business verticals will be critical to success in this role as competition for assets & the dependence on assets to meet strategic objectives intensifies.
Responsibilities
Asset optimisation & utilisation:
Effectively deploy and schedule assets, ensure accurate asset tracking, identify operational efficiencies, collaborate with project teams to meet asset requirements, and monitor key performance indicators to optimize asset utilization and minimize costs.
Asset maintenance & reliability:
Creating and documenting maintenance programs, overseeing routine maintenance, implementing strategies to enhance asset reliability, analysing performance data, and preparing for unplanned maintenance situations.
Vessel Management:
Align vessel strategy with the overall business strategy, establishing efficient processes for vessel charter management and maintenance planning, and building a team to provide procurement and logistics support for offshore operations.
Financial Management & Budgeting:
Developing and overseeing the asset management budget, assessing financial risks in asset management activities, controlling expenditures, collaborating with commercial and procurement teams to optimize contracts, and delivering financial analysis and reports on asset performance and cost-effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Development:
Cultivate a collaborative and high-performance culture, defining performance expectations, offering coaching, and facilitating professional growth, efficient resource allocation to achieve operational goals, promoting cross-functional collaboration between the asset management and project teams, and establishing effective communication channels to ensure coordinated information flow.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensuring adherence to pertinent regulations, standards, and industry best practices, establishing and sustaining a robust safety management system for asset operations, addressing safety risks associated with asset management activities, working closely with health, safety, and environment (HSE) teams to uphold safety protocols, and actively participating in incident investigations while implementing necessary corrective actions.
Qualifications And Experience
- Significant experience working with subsea & supporting assets derived from project experience.
- Significant experience in building a robust asset function to support the planned growth within a subsea services environment.
- Significant experience leading asset management function within similar organisations with extremely positive outcomes.
- Extensive experience in managing a diverse range of assets, including ROVs, AUVs, ASVs, hydrographic survey equipment, and vessels, preferably including DP2 vessels.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to asset management in the offshore sector.
- Ability to keep up to date with emerging technology as it relates to our assets & their management.
- Demonstrated experience developing & executing asset strategies to meet business objectives.
- Strong financial & commercial awareness including ability to manage departmental budgets/P&L.
- Exceptional leadership skills capable of growing a high performing, engaged team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to drive alignment and collaboration across different teams and departments.
- Demonstrated experience in driving operational excellence, process improvements, and cost optimisation initiatives within asset management.
- Strong analytical & reporting skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Experience working with an integrated management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
