Permanent, Full time, 2 Days, 2 Nights followed by 4 days standdown (12 hour Shifts) averaging a 42 hour working week

Salary of £36843.28 (Inclusive of a 20% shift allowance) plus benefits

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet.

We have an exciting opportunity to join RAF Brize Norton as an Airfield Transport Section Shift Supervisor.

Main Accountabilities

• Assume all relevant supervisory duties and tasking for Airfield drivers, in particular:
• To manage the control and day to day operation of the Airfield Transport Section.
• Task, and within delegated authority, supervise allocated staff in their daily duties.
• Monitor staff attendance and performance as required by the Airfield Transport Section Ops Manager.
• Ensure drivers are provided with all necessary supporting items of documentation and equipment to undertake the task.
• Comply with the unit system for the reporting and processing of vehicle and equipment faults and breakdowns.
• Comply with and operate the system to allocate correctly trained and qualified personnel, in appropriate vehicles.
• Ensure drivers are correctly briefed and have sufficient information to complete allocated task.
• Allocate resources to achieve the required task.
• Ensure all Company Policies and Directives relating to Dangerous Goods are fully complied with.
• Ensure all drivers are aware of their obligations, insurance liabilities, ADR obligations, basic road safety and responsibilities for reporting accidents.
• Ensure the area under your control fulfils its primary function through effective organisation to meet the allotted contractual tasks.
• Ensure all employees are correctly trained and competent to undertake their duties in accordance with their core competencies.
• Create a leading Safety-first culture, ensuring all activities reflect this core value with no compromise.
• Maintain exceptional levels of safety and quality “Zero Harm” culture with open honest reporting of Near Misses and safety related occurrences.
• Develop and drive continuous improvement culture, with focus on improving efficiency.
• Effective day to day use of management systems to streamline operational activities.
• Supervise areas under their control to ensure delivery of effective, efficient, “right first time every time” output to our customers.
• Drive and operate all vehicles required to fulfil our contractual obligations.
  
  

What You’ll Need To Do The Role

• Full Driving Licence Cat C+E (D, D1 desirable).
• Hold in date DCPC qualification.
• Hold an in date vocational medical.
• Hold a colour perception category of CP2 to enable the issue of an Airfield Driving Permit. (Can be obtained from any optician. Proof of CP2 will be required before any offer of employment can be made).
• Hold a valid ADR Licence (desirable, training may be provided to the right candidate).
