HMP & YOI Doncaster is a Category B prison and it predominantly serves the courts of South Yorkshire and currently holds up to 1,145 male prisoners over the age of 18. We are located in the centre of Doncaster Town Centre within walking distance of the railway station and bus station. As a resettlement prison we work with our prisoners, particularly those serving less than 12-months, to ensure that they have the support they need for resettlement as well as access to the services and support available to them after release. Most of our prisoners are released back into South Yorkshire.
We are looking for an Administrator to join our team. The role will actively coordinate allocation and attendance measures to ensure prisoners attend their activity on time with minimal interruptions.

Key Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the allocation and sequencing of prisoner pathways in custody ensuring prisoners engage with the most appropriate activity at the most suitable time in their sentence.
- To actively seek and use feedback received from departments, staff and prisoners to ensure high attendance.
- Prioritise workload efficiently ensuring educational courses are filled to maximum capacity daily.
- Ensure employment spaces are filled to maximum capacity, contributing to prison targets.
- Communicate with all departments within the establishment to support smart allocation.
- Collate daily figures on attendance and provide to manager to monitor local performance.
- Contribute to weekly allocations board meetings, providing relevant prisoner information including education levels to inform discussions and decisions on progression in custody.
What You’ll Need
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above).
- Strong computer literacy, including Outlook and Excel.
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within criminal justice, legal, or public sector environments.
- A team player who collaborates effectively with colleagues and external partners.
- A problem-solver who can work independently with initiative.
- Someone adaptable, resilient, and calm under pressure.
- A strong organiser with the ability to manage competing priorities.
