Your role
Working as part of a team, you will contribute to the overall operational, performance and service standard targets across your area of work. You will progress cases through the court/tribunal system and provide administrative support to functions within HMCTS. You will have regular contact with court / tribunal users, which could include members of the Judiciary and the legal profession.
You will be adaptable, able to multi-task and effectively carry out a variety of duties, which will include:

You’ll be skilled in organising your time, prioritising efficiently, able to multi-task and adapt to using various software packages. You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and helping court users navigate the justice system.

These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible, and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. This is a business-critical role requiring full time hours.
Occasional Travel To Other Courts
For this post, occasional travel across the South West region may be required for meetings and training.

- First Point of Contact: Serve as the initial contact for booking fee-paid judiciary.
- Booking Management: Handle bookings and update court sitting schedules as needed.
- Resource Planning: Assist in preparing sitting plans and resource schedules for efficient service delivery.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and databases.
- Report Preparation: Support the creation of reports as required.
- Feedback Management: Collaborate with the team to log, process, and resolve operational issues.
- Judicial Travel & Fees: Process travel, subsistence, and fee claims as appropriate.
- Mail & Correspondence: Sort, distribute, and draft responses to correspondence.
- Resource Orders: Process orders for supplies such as stationery.
- Documentation Management: Maintain an organized repository of operational documents, publications, and materials.
- Administrative Support: Assist with meetings, training, judicial visits, swearing-in ceremonies, ticketing, database maintenance, and report generation.
- Business Assurance: Support business assurance activities as needed.
- Correspondence: Draft letters and other communications.
- Reports & Documents: Prepare standard letters, minutes, reports, and submissions in line with guidelines.
- Objective Management: Ensure targets and deadlines are met.
- Project Coordination: Research, compile, and process project-related data.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards in documentation and compliance.
- Cross-Checking: Review and validate work completed by colleagues.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and process information for operational reports and statistical analysis.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including judiciary members, court staff, and tribunal users, to address resource needs and challenges.
- Public Interaction: Collaborate with judiciary representatives, magistrates, managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Reporting: Report to the Judicial Liaison Manager.
- Flexibility: Adapt to additional tasks as required, in line with the role's responsibilities.
