About The Role

With new investment for posts, we are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team of Specialist Pharmacists, taking on this uniquely structured role. Post holders will initially rotate through medical specialties, working within:

  • A&E and medical receiving areas.
  • Care of the Elderly and general medicine inpatient wards.
  • The Frailty Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Orthopaedic rehabilitation.

When the National Treatment Centre is developed you will move into the surgical team working within a variety of specialties:

  • Elective Surgery
  • Ear Nose and Throat
  • Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery
  • The Regional Burns Unit

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for delivering exceptional clinical care.

Essential Qualifications And Experience

  • A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Completed training or equivalent competence mapped to the

  • Experience in proactively influencing prescribing, using clinical knowledge to optimise patient care.
  • A strong patient-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, enabling effective decision-making in an acute setting.

St John’s Hospital is a modern teaching hospital that provides a comprehensive and expanding range of services, including ophthalmology, a 24-hour A+E department, OPAT and frailty services. Surgery at St John’s Hospital provides specialist regional services for ENT, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, including Burns patients and elective surgery. The Hospital also delivered perinatal services for West Lothian and elective and emergency gynaecology care. We have a general paediatric ward providing inpatient care alongside elective paediatric surgeries, GP assessment, medical day care and medical investigations. In addition, we support neonatal services via our Special Care Baby Unit, which is closely aligned to neonatal services in Edinburgh.
