193620 Pharmacy Support Worker

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team based within the Pharmacy Department in Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary.
You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team working in the main pharmacy department and at ward level. You will liaise closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and secure supply of medications to inpatients at DGRI, Midpark ,Galloway Community Hospital and Peripheral Hospitals across the region.
The post holder will be responsible for helping to organise pharmaceutical stock effectively and assist in the receipt of pharmacy deliveries. This can include physical movement of stock and use of equipment including ladders, medication trolleys and trolley jacks. This role requires moving and handling skills to be used frequently for short periods, to lift move and load boxes, and distribute medical cylinders.
The post holder will be required to visit on a daily basis, a variety of different wards and departments to provide a medication top up service, as well as delivering discharge prescriptions which have been completed by the dispensary.
No pharmacy experience is necessary for this role, as in house training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to work towards the SVQ in Pharmacy Services once commencing the role.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend and bank holiday working and be flexible to work between the hours of 8am and 8pm to support the needs of the service.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
