We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support & Outreach Support worker to join a specialist SEMH school in Southend-on-Sea. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to support students both within the school and in the wider community.
As part of this role, you will work closely with students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored one-to-one support to help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to working within the school, you will engage with students in community settings, helping them build life skills, confidence, and independence. As such, you must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.
This position is ideal for an individual who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about making a difference. While experience working with young people with SEMH needs is desirable, it is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 learning support to students within the school and the community.
- Work closely with students to develop their confidence, resilience, and engagement with learning.
- Support students with behaviour management and encourage positive interactions.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and life skills programmes in various settings.
- Liaise with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans.
- Drive students to off-site learning and enrichment activities, ensuring a safe and structured experience.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback to the school team.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and ensure the welfare of all students.
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach to working with young people.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
