1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Weymouth

Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Start Date: January 2025

Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

About The Role

GSL Education are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) to work at an outstanding school in Weymouth. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA), you will provide tailored support to an individual student, helping them engage with their learning and build confidence in the classroom.

The role of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) is both rewarding and impactful, offering the chance to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to deliver personalised strategies that help the student overcome challenges and thrive academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA):

• Provide one-to-one support for a student, helping them access the curriculum.
• Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons and activities to suit the student’s needs.
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor the student’s progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and SENCO.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviours.
  
  

Requirements for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA):

• Previous experience as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) or in a similar role is desirable.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to individual student needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, nurturing approach to working with children.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
