The Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Hand to join our Stores & Logistics team. Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, you will support the day-to-day operations of our warehouse yard, ensuring it remains safe, organised, and operational at all times.
This is a hands-on role that is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong awareness of health and safety procedures, and takes pride in maintaining high operational standards.

The Role

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe marshalling and positioning of delivery and collection vehicles within the yard.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and general housekeeping of the yard.
- Support waste management and disposal processes in line with site procedures.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, including the correct use of PPE at all times.
- Assist drivers, warehouse operatives, and management with general yard duties as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and site security procedures.
- Help maintain a safe working environment around moving vehicles and heavy materials.
- Support the smooth flow of goods and equipment throughout the site.
Essential Experience & Attributes
- Previous experience within a warehouse, yard, logistics, or industrial environment.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible, dependable, and able to work using your own initiative.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- High level of accountability and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of safe stacking limits and drum storage methods.
- Strong awareness of site safety procedures, particularly around moving vehicles and heavy cable drums.
While not essential, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Manual Handling Certification.
- Banksman / Vehicle Marshal Training.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence (Counterbalance or Reach).
- Competitive salary of £25,000 – £27,000, dependent on qualifications and experience.
