Yard Assistant & Relief HGV Driver (Class 2)

Have a Class 2 licence but prefer being part of a busy branch team on the ground? Want to keep your licence active without spending all day, every day out on the motorway?

At Travis Perkins, we are the UK’s leading timber and builders’ merchant, and we’re looking for a Yard Assistant & Relief HGV Driver to join our close-knit branch team.

This is a hands-on, variety-filled role where you will predominantly be based in our yard, serving customers and keeping operations moving. However, because you hold a Class 2 licence, you will be our vital "go-to" relief driver, stepping into the cab to cover local deliveries when any of our three full-time drivers are on holiday or off sick.

Your Day-to-Day:

• In the Yard (Your Main Role): You’ll be the heartbeat of the branch. You will welcome and serve our trade and retail customers, prepare and load orders accurately, and ensure the yard stays safe, tidy, and well-stocked.
• On the Road (As Needed): When cover is required, you'll seamlessly switch gears, take the wheel of our Class 2 vehicles, and safely deliver building materials directly to local customer sites.
  
  

What we’re looking for:

• A valid UK Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence with an up-to-date CPC and Digi Tacho card.
• Someone who genuinely enjoys team collaboration and face-to-face customer service.
• Physical fitness to handle yard work, manual handling, and loading materials.
• A safety-first mindset, whether you are operating a forklift in the yard or driving a lorry on the road.
