Transport Opimisation Specialist

GXO Logistics

Date: 2 hours ago
City: Warrington
Contract type: Full time

Are you currently working in transport but feel like you’ve reached a bit of a standstill? Do you enjoy the detail behind the data and want to make a real impact on how transport operates? Are you ready to take a smarter route in your career and optimise rather than just react? Transport yourself to GXO and find out more about how we do logistics differently!

Here at GXO Warrington we are looking for a Transport Optimisation Specialist to join our B&Q operation. This isn’t your typical planning role – you’ll be at the heart of designing smarter, more efficient transport solutions, using data to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement. You’ll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team where your ideas and insights will genuinely shape how we operate.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required – but it’s a two-way street. We’ll support flexibility in your working hours within office hours too… this is logistics after all!

Pay, benefits and more:

You’ll be paid a competitive salary, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more. You’ll also have access to our GXO University which provides you with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with. There’s also our continued focus on internal promotions, over 55% last year!

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Design and model smarter transport solutions to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Use tools such as Paragon to run network optimisation and scenario planning
  • Analyse operational and customer data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Turn complex data into clear, actionable insights using tools like MS Excel and Power BI
  • Support continuous improvement projects and strategic decision-making
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to bring solutions to life
  • Contribute to sustainability and AI-driven optimisation initiatives across the network

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Experience within a transport, planning or optimisation environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and influencing decisions
  • Experience with transport modelling tools, with a superuser level of Paragon highly desirable
  • Knowledge of transport operations, cost control and efficiency improvements
  • A proactive mindset – someone who questions, challenges and improves

We engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.
