Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Temporary Works Co-ordinator to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our new site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose: Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) is responsible for the overall safety, planning, design approval, and management of all non-permanent structures on a construction site.

What you'll be doing

The successful applicant will be responsible for the sole management of area specific duties defined below

  • Coordinate with all parties involved in the design and construction of temporary works
  • Liaise with clients to determine if schemes may affect the public and to ascertain approval process and certification required;
  • Compile and periodically update a Temporary Works Schedule (TWS) with all relevant information and to periodically review the schedule with the Temporary Works Designer (TWD) and Project Lead;
  • Ensure that an adequate Temporary Works design is carried out;
  • Supervise and assess the competence of the TWS with the Project Lead;
  • Prepare/review the design brief for adequacy/completeness prior to issue to TWD;
  • Ensure that the duration for temporary works designs, checking and construction are realistically timed in the construction programme;
  • Ensure that the completed designs are obtained from the TWD within the required deadline;
  • Discuss any changes to the design with the TWD and manage the design change process.
  • Strong knowledge of temporary works processes and UK construction standards
  • Coordinate design briefs, checks and approvals in line with Temporary Works Procedures
  • Manage the temporary works register, ensuring inspections, handovers, and records are completed and auditable

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a candidate with an engineering qualification who demonstrates enthusiasm and a strong willingness to learn. While prior experience is not essential, the ability to develop skills and knowledge within a collaborative team environment is key.

The successful candidate will join an experienced TW team with extensive expertise in both design and site operations. They will benefit from ongoing support and mentorship from the site team, providing an excellent opportunity to develop their technical knowledge, skills, and practical experience.

  • Organised and proactive, able to plan and keep works on programme
  • Relevant qualification desirable (Degree or HNC) with solid site experience
  • Experience on large/complex infrastructure projects highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, working collaboratively with designers, site teams, contractors, and the TWD
  • Ability to identify risks, resolve issues quickly, and maintain safety, quality, and compliance
  • Support safe and efficient delivery as a Temporary Works Coordinator on Net Zero Teesside
