Role: Technical Lecturer – Electrical Installation

Location: Tresham College – Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, plus up to a £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Curriculum Delivery & Electrical/Gas Provision – Plan, develop and deliver high‑quality teaching across Electrical Installation and Building Services programmes, including Gas training, aligned to industry standards and learner progression.
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Development – Deliver engaging, practical learning experiences, supporting learners to develop skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve success.
  • Assessment, Progress & Behaviour Management – Monitor attendance and progress, assess learner performance, manage behaviour effectively and implement interventions to support achievement.
  • Planning, Resources & Safe Learning Environments – Prepare schemes of work, design differentiated lessons and maintain safe, compliant workshops through risk assessment and effective resource management.
  • Professional Practice, Collaboration & Compliance – Contribute to curriculum development, team activities and marketing events, while upholding safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and continuous professional development standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications, Electrical Expertise & Development – Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations with strong industry experience, supported by commitment to achieving teaching and assessor qualifications (TAQA/Cert Ed).
  • Teaching, Delivery & Learner Engagement – Able to deliver engaging teaching across vocational levels, using varied methods to motivate learners and support achievement and progression.
  • Industry Knowledge, Quality & Health & Safety – Up‑to‑date technical knowledge and understanding of quality assurance systems, with strong application of health and safety in practical environments.
  • Organisation, Communication & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to manage workload effectively, communicate confidently and contribute positively within a team.
  • Professional Values, CPD & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, continuous professional development and learner success, with a flexible approach to working across sites and adapting to changing demands.
