Are you a passionate, nurturing and skilled teacher who believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed no matter their starting point?Hooe Primary Academy are seeking an exceptional Nurture Teacher to lead and deliver a high-quality provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and cognition and learning barriers. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping an inclusive, supportive environment where every child can thrive
You will lead our nurture provision, designing and delivering a bespoke, research-informed offer that blends academic support with therapeutic approaches. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, SENCo, families and external professionals, you will ensure pupils are supported to successfully access and flourish within mainstream education
Leadership of Nurture Provision
- Lead the day-to-day running of a safe, structured and nurturing environment
- Develop a responsive provision focused on early intervention
- Monitor impact and contribute to whole-school SEND and inclusion strategy
- Lead review meetings and continuous provision development
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver highly personalised sessions in:
- Literacy (including phonics/reading and writing)
- Mathematics (focused on number and foundational concepts)
- Use evidence-informed approaches such as:
- Multi-sensory learning
- Precision Teaching
- Scaffolded instruction
- CPA (Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract)
- Support pupils to build independence and confidence for reintegration
SEMH and Therapeutic Support
- Deliver targeted interventions (e.g. ELSA-informed practice, Lego Therapy, emotion coaching, Zones of Regulation)
- Create an emotionally safe, nurturing environment
- Embed trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice
- Support pupils’ emotional literacy, resilience and self-regulation
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching in a primary setting and supporting pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH
- Be skilled in delivering personalised, adaptive teaching
- Demonstrate strong understanding of child development, attachment and trauma-informed practice
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Be committed to inclusion, high expectations and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils
We would particularly welcome candidates with:
- Experience working in a nurture or specialist setting
- Additional SEND/SEMH qualifications (e.g. NASENCo, ELSA)
- Experience leading staff or provision

Hooe Primary Academy is a Happy school where everyone is Passionate and Ambitious about learning.
We are a one form entry school within Hooe which was established in 1926. We have a fantastic school site with three playgrounds, a large school field, and additional classroom spaces which are used for a range of activities. Our primary aim is to encourage all our pupils to be self-confident, inquiring, tolerant, positive individuals, who have respect for the differences of others.
