Working closely with operational and IT teams, you'll identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual tasks and develop practical solutions that improve productivity, accuracy and reporting across our UK Customs operation.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

You'll play an important role in supporting and improving the systems and processes used across our Customs operation, helping teams make better use of existing technology while introducing new tools and solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining practical solutions using Excel, SharePoint and other Microsoft applications to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identifying repetitive tasks and opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate processes.
  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets, reports and data tools to improve accuracy and operational visibility.
  • Developing and supporting automated workflows using Power Automate and other automation tools.
  • Supporting the introduction of new systems, including testing, implementation, troubleshooting and user support.
  • Working closely with operational teams to understand challenges, gather requirements and develop user-friendly solutions.
  • Supporting system administration, file management and routine reporting, including month-end activities.
  • Documenting processes, providing guidance and helping colleagues adopt new tools and ways of working.
  • Reviewing existing solutions and identifying further opportunities for continuous improvement.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and finding practical ways to make everyday tasks more efficient.

You'll have good Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with formulas, lookups and pivot tables, alongside confidence using Microsoft Office applications and business systems.

You'll also bring an understanding of logistics operations, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to understand requirements and develop effective solutions.

You'll be organised, detail-focused and comfortable communicating with stakeholders across different teams.

Experience with Power Automate, SharePoint, robotic process automation (RPA), SQL or Python would be advantageous, as would previous involvement in systems implementation or process improvement projects.

Previous Customs experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?

With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance along with access to an employee benefits platform that offers discounts on gym memberships and money off vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands.
