About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Storeperson to join our street lighting operational depot in Boldon, South Tyneside. This is a key depot-based role where you will be responsible for maintaining an efficient, safe and well-organised stores environment while supporting operational, procurement, fleet and compliance activities. You will play an integral role in ensuring materials, equipment and vehicles are available and managed effectively to support the successful delivery of our contracts.

This is a key depot-based role where you will be responsible for maintaining an efficient, safe and well-organised stores environment while supporting operational, procurement, fleet and compliance activities. You will play an integral role in ensuring materials, equipment and vehicles are available and managed effectively to support the successful delivery of our contracts.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
Stores Management
- Take responsibility for the overall management and organisation of the stores and yard.
- Maintain a tidy, safe and efficient stores environment.
- Manage deliveries and goods received, including the operation of a forklift truck where required.
- Book stock in and out physically and electronically using company systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively manage stock replenishment.
- Maintain clear minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Conduct regular stock counts and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Manage day-to-day vehicle and plant-related issues.
- Liaise with internal support teams and external suppliers to maintain fleet compliance and availability.
- Ensure tools, lifting equipment and electrical assets remain calibrated, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Support the depot in maintaining compliance with health, safety and company standards.
- Assist with audit preparation and compliance activities.
- Help ensure facilities are maintained in line with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with operational teams to support purchasing requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement of materials and products.
Essential
- Experience working within a stores, warehouse or materials management environment with a degree of ownership and responsibility.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and stores management systems.
- Positive and proactive approach with the ability to use initiative.
- Ability to work effectively in a role that combines physical stores activities with administrative and system-based tasks.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
- Experience using Oracle R12.
- Valid forklift truck licence or substantial forklift operating experience.
- Experience working within an operational, utilities, infrastructure or construction environment.
