I’m supporting a key client based at their HQ in Sedgefield — a high-growth RF/microwave technology business delivering advanced connectivity solutions into space, defence, telecoms and critical communications sectors. They design and manufacture high-performance RF, microwave and mmWave hardware for mission-critical systems, and they’re scaling quickly following strong revenue growth and multiple flagship programme wins.

They’re now looking to add a Senior RF Engineer to strengthen their core RF/mmWave capability at the Sedgefield HQ. This Senior RF Engineer will take a leading role in designing, developing and validating high-performance RF/mmWave circuits and subsystems, collaborating closely across engineering teams and playing a key part in delivering complex new products.

Role Overview – Senior RF Engineer

You’ll be responsible for robust RF/microwave design delivery, hands-on test work, technical problem-solving, and supporting the wider engineering roadmap across concept, prototype and production.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  • Lead the design, simulation and development of RF and mmWave circuits, components and subsystems
  • Perform RF system analysis, optimisation and troubleshooting on complex designs
  • Execute RF measurements, characterisation and validation across prototypes and production hardware
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation including design reports, test plans and results
  • Ensure designs meet specification, standards and customer requirements
  • Contribute to product and technology roadmaps with innovative RF ideas
  • Provide technical input into RFQs, proposals and customer discussions when required

Project and product delivery

  • Work with project managers and engineering leads to deliver designs to quality, cost and schedule
  • Support the transition of concepts through prototyping into volume manufacturing
  • Collaborate with operations/process engineering to ensure strong manufacturability and yield
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating technical risks throughout development
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with electronics, mechanical, software and systems engineering teams
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Present technical updates and design reviews as required
