Role Overview:

This role requires providing overnight care to residents at Alexandra House, Dovercourt, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during night shifts. The Senior Care Assistant will oversee nighttime routines, support residents with personal care needs, and maintain detailed records of care provided. This work matters because it directly impacts the quality of life for vulnerable individuals requiring consistent, compassionate overnight support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular nighttime rounds to check on residents’ safety and comfort, responding promptly to any calls for assistance.

• Assist residents with personal care tasks, including toileting, washing, and dressing, with dignity and respect.

• Administer prescribed medications accurately and document administration in line with care plans and regulatory standards.

• Monitor residents for any changes in health or behavior and report concerns to the daytime team or on-call nurse.

• Complete detailed handover notes at shift end, ensuring continuity of care and compliance with care plans.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a care assistant role, with preference for overnight or senior care experience.

• Valid NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.

• Knowledge of safeguarding adults and infection control protocols.

• Ability to work autonomously during night shifts while maintaining clear communication with the daytime team.

• Strong attention to detail when recording care activities and reporting observations.
