On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a Semi Skilled Operator for a 12-month contract based in Derby. In this role, you would work on a 3-shift pattern (rotating early, afternoon and night shifts).


Job description - the role


Purpose of the role:

  • To support the production of turbine blades by ensuring all components meet strict quality and manufacturing standards.
  • To carry out inspection and quality control activities while contributing to efficient manufacturing processes.
  • To play a key role in delivering high-quality outputs that meet customer requirements and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll do as a Semi Skilled Operator:

  • Carry out inspection and quality control activities on turbine blades, ensuring outputs meet defined standards and specifications.
  • Support machine operations by assisting with part loading/unloading, consumable management, and basic machine tool activities.
  • Follow technical instructions and manufacturing processes to ensure consistent and accurate production.
  • Identify defects or issues and respond in line with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in line with operational standards.
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues where required, contributing to a positive team environment.

The skills you’ll need as a Semi Skilled Operator:

  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of production environments and quality control practices.
  • Experience or exposure to inspection processes; familiarity with CMM or similar equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take ownership of tasks.
